Maritime Heritage Taskforce Working Group - July 27th

Friday July 27, 2007 we will hold our Working Group meeting from 10:00-noon in the Auditorium, upstairs in the Naval Reserve Armory at Lake Union Park.  
 
Topics will include:
 
(1)  Transportation Grant--Brainstorming ideas for four illustrations.  These will be part of the final Exhibit and Interpretation Master Plan and probably used by all of us in our fundraising.  They will be done by the same artist who painted the watercolors which are used curently to describe the physical features of Lake Union Park.   We want to brainstorm what to include in the illustrations to show how vibrant the Park will be with all the programming, exhibits and events that our collection of organizations bring.
 
(2) Update on upcoming events.

- Steamboat meet (Aug)
- Lady Washington visit (Aug)

Lake Union Park Maritime Heritage Working Group Meeting - April 20

The Lake Union Park - Maritime Heritage Working Group

There are several discussion items on the agenda for the meeting, all related to collaborative activation of Lake Union Park over the next several months.
 
(1)  Follow-up discussion with our consultants from Pyramid Consulting on ideas related to co-marketing our collective programs and activities.
 
(2) Update from Orca Creative with a new idea to feature the various organizations both during the 4th of July Festival and beyond
 
(3) Updates from individual organizations.

Floating Homes Association - Annual Membership Meeting-Tuesday, April 24th

Floating Homes is having its annual meeting this comming tuesday at the Armory at Lake Union. Meeting of Maritime Heritage Taskforce -Working Group - March 9th

The Maritime Heritage Taskforce continues to host meetings of the  Working Group for Maritime Heritage in Lake Union Park. 

The primary focus of this meeting of the task force  was an extended conversation on educational programs.  The minutes reflect the many educational opportunites currently offerd by the various organizations in the park.

The Working Group for Maritime Heritage in Lake Union will meet bi-monthly for the next couple months to continue to forge ties between the many maritime heritage groups and jointly develop concepts and plans for how to create shared vision for interperting maritime heritage at Lake Union Park.

This effort is supported by a grant from 4Culture

The event will involve volunteers in kayaks and other small boats picking up trash and transferring the material to larger craft for offloading and pickup by Seattle Public Utilities. Additional cleanup will be done in shore-side areas around the lakes to involve non-boaters

Presentation to Puget Sound Ship Modelers - February 22nd

Matthew Stubbs the Communitity Involvment specialist will be presenting to the Puget Sound Ship Modelers at their club meeting, Thursday, February 22nd, at 7:30 pm at the Armory at Lake Union.

The Puget Sound Ship Modelers is a volunteer based, not for profit that is dedicated to modeling historic ships. Presentation to Lake Union District Council - February 5th

Matthew Stubbs, the Community Involvement Specialist working on the Master Planning Project, will present to the Lake Union District Council, Monday, February 5, 2007.

The District Council their constituent organizations(and their members) will be informed of the planning process and invited to participate.  We would like to extend that invitation to their constituent members to  keep informed through this website and periodic email communications by signing up for the email newsletter. 

The Lake Union District Council draws Representatives from many of the neighborhood organizations around Lake Union.   For more information you can visit the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods website.
